We can read about this in genesis where it says Jacob saw god face to face. Jacob named the place Peniel like Pineal. God is mentioned 33 times in Genesis. The 33rd time Jacob's name is found in scripture he promised to give a tenth of all he had to God when he had a vision of a ladder reaching to heaven. This is commonly referred to as Jacob's ladder (vertebrae). Jacob then "wrestled" with god. Now I think some rumpy pumpy was going on there. Jacob the liar changed his name to Israel. Dee appears to have understood how the meaning of the Monas Hieroglyphica wasn't to be conveyed strictly through the text, a work that reads to me like the typical employment of layered esoteric obfuscation. He couldn't just go around openly saying what things really are, but I can!
The Monas Hieroglyphica is a stick figure devil head sodomizer. The secret is sodomy, the sex magick portal that is claimed to grant access to gnosis, illumination and power. That's why Dee claimed understanding the glyph would “revolutionize astronomy, alchemy, mathematics, linguistics, mechanics, music, optics, magic, and adeptship.”
The glyph is obviously the alchemical and astrological symbol for Mercury aka Hermes.
Dee's glyph is obviously an eye of Horus, the ubiquitous dot in circle that is also a sun and a phallus symbol. The dot inside the circle is also the phallus inside an orifice. You can then read the glyph as the slang one-eyed monster, a sodomizing beast with devil horns. Typically, the dot in circle is taken as male in female, a reproductive emblem. In the context pictured, however, the activity is not reproductive in the usual sense of producing offspring through conception, gestation and a natural birth. Horus was sodomized, and a sodomizer. Instead of Doda's Bad Girl stick figure implied to be read as symbolic of the big bad girl, Mystery Babylon the Great, Mother of Harlots, Dee's Monas Hieroglyphica is the beast she rides, the big bad boy.
